Good Grip- where you hold the pencil is covered with rubber. The rubber is also soft on your fingers. You don’t get tired nor hurt holding the pencil for a long time.
0.7mm thickness (lead) is perfect. it’s not too think nor thick, easy to draw good lines.
HB is just right darkness
I never use its eraser part. In fact, I’ve lost the eraser but don’t bother because its eraser isn’t that super important part.
I recommend using mechanical pencils than regular pencils, it’s because you can keep the same width stroke.
By far, the BEST eraser is this Japanese eraser made by Tombow, a popular stationary company.
I’ve been using this MONO erasers for nearly 35 years. I’ve used other erasers, with high reputation ones but nothing can beat MONO. Your child is going to be pretty happy about them.
I strongly recommend to buy your child Copic Markers, if she’s into drawing and coloring. They are the best – in many ways – coloring markers.

Kent paper is common to be used for manga drawing in Japan. Also this paper works great with Copic Markers.
If you just draw, sketch, everyday casual drawing – then printer papers are just fine. I use them all the time, too. (no glossy surface.)
Outliners are used for tracing the outline after the sketch is done.
There is a whole set of pens here, sometimes you may want to try different strokes to give different feelings. (strokes make difference on the look of the drawing – a lot!!)
